The Alverno College cross country team raced to a third-place finish at the Red Hawk Invitational hosted by Ripon College Saturday morning.

Three Inferno runners opened the season with personal best times at the 2014 Falcon Invite on Concordia University Wisconsin's campus Saturday afternoon as Alverno College placed 13th of 16 teams.

The Alverno College Cross Country team brings back a solid core of returners this 2014 season and looks to build on last year's valuable experience.

Alverno College student-athletes stood out in the classroom as 36 Inferno were named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Scholar-Athletes for the 2013-14 academic year.
